The Romanian Carpathians are home to the largest forest system in Europe. It is also the one of best preserved, due to a policy which has managed, throughout the communist period, to foster its conservation, almost entirely being owned by the state. Today, the woods that house the biggest population of large carnivores in Europe are mostly privately owned and therefore subject to exploitation according to the principles of free market.

It’s a hard job to make sure that their richness and diversity are well taken care of in a climate of economic competition, and also to provide a constant development, in accordance with the traditional principles of exploitation.

Our goal is to put in contact the representatives of forestry schools from all over the world with their Romanian counterparts, as the exchange of ideas is a benefit to us all, but first of all, to these forests we still dream of.
